Terminix, the world’s largest termite and pest control company, opened its first international conference in Manila yesterday in smashing success, drawing raves from representatives from 9 countries.

The three-day conference was co-hosted by Terminix Philippines, the Philippine partner for Terminix owned by Edilberto Bravo. Bravo is Chairman and CEO of U-BIX Corporation, Terminix Philippines’ parent company.

The three-day conference attended by delegates from Korea, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Philippines, Honduras, Jordan, and the USA started off with welcome messages from Paul Jones, Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy, Bisher Mufti, Vice President for International of ServiceMaster USA; and Mr. Bravo.

This was followed by detailed presentations of the latest technology in termite and pest control by key dignitaries of Terminix USA.

"We are very happy with the peace and order situation in the Philippines," said Bisher Mufti. "We chose the Philippines as our venue for our first international conference because of the country’s ability to provide first class facilities and services."

From a small company in 1927, Terminix grew to become the largest termite and pest control company in the world, operating in 10 countries worldwide and serving 385,000 customers through 903 service locations, with a total revenue of $ 1.3 billion.

The Philippine franchise for Terminix was acquired in November 1999, following the earlier acquisition of the ServiceMaster Management Services and ServiceMaster Clean franchise in 1996.

Terminix Philippines operates its termite and pest control services not only in Metro Manila and other provinces in Luzon but also maintains branches in Cebu City and Cagayan de Oro City.

Bravo, in his opening message during the conference, affirmed his commitment to fully develop Terminix’ business interests in the Philippines.

"My goal is for continuous business expansion, to cover more areas in the Southern Philippines to include major cities such as Davao, Iloilo, and Bacolod," said Bravo, a lawyer by profession.
